Y1995 was a wonderful year for Tamil Industry when many blockbuster movies released. Baasha, Bombay, Kuruthipunal, Aasai, Sathyleelavathi, Murai Maman,Muthu, Karna released the same year.

Amidst Big Names like Muthu and Kuruthipunal of Diwali Releases Daring Director RK Selvamani released his Movie Makkal Aatchi.

It was close to an end of Tenure for the current ruling party and they were counting their months after they displayed their multiple Political disasters in Tamilnadu state and the total swap of government in Y1996 with major stunts.

This movie was one of the front runner for many Tamil movies to show their Hero as Chief Minister afterwards like Puthumai Pithan, Mudhalvan and Rest of All..

The movie starts and ends with more dramatical sequence, how a jail returned road side man without any political background become a CM of the state. Those parts of the movie are shear drama. But the in between episodes are real juice from all the mix and grind of those days political stunts. Even the character names used in the Movie were touching the open politics. There were many places the director displays 1000s of side actors as a mass who attends the political meetings and come all through the movie. This usually visible only in RK Selvamani movies those days. It was well appreciated by critics and even surprised them. Liaquat Ali Khan razor sharp dialogues fine tuned our thoughts. Even though, two of the Tamil matinee icon had their major releases, Mammootty came with his memorable acting and made the movie a classic hit.

P Kalaimani the master story writer of Tamil Industry those days have major stars in his career crown. This movie added him one more credit.

We are unable to find an unedited original version of this movie in any online platform. But the people who watched the original in Theatres cannot forget it.

Movie have it own issues with loopholes considering the the year of release, Yet a classic packed movie.

One of the memorable scene in the movie is where a party devotee runs into the opposite party political meeting’s stage and set fire on himself for cursing his leader. The camera work in that scene is a wonderful masterpiece and multiple TV channels had used that in their montage videos.

Additional Info : R K Selvamani’s other classics are Pulan Visaranai, Captain Prabakaran, Makkal Aatchi and Kuttra Pattrikai
